During class Jess will guide you through making your own paints from the materials she’s hand selected, and will demonstrate how to use a mortar and pestle if you’d like to later prepare your own pigments. You’ll experiment with different painting techniques on a selection of papers in order to see for yourself the way handmade watercolors act. It’s not the same as commercial watercolors. As a bonus, Jess takes you on a journey tracing the history of pigments since humans first painted on rocks. It’s fascinating. Come join Jess in this special class to learn where color comes from.
